MANILA, Philippines — After Christmas Day, four weather systems are causing cloudy skies and rain across various parts of the Philippines, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The shear line is impacting southern and Central Luzon, while the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is influencing the eastern section of Mindanao.
The northeast monsoon is expected to bring cloudy skies with rain over the Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region, while the Ilocos Region will experience isolated light rains.
Meanwhile, a tropical cyclone, previously named Romina, was tracked 475 kilometers west of Kalayaan in Palawan.
Heavy to intense rains are expected today over Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes.
Scattered rains will also affect Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, the Bicol Region, and Eastern Visayas due to the shear line. Similarly, scattered rains are forecast for Northern Mindanao, Caraga, the Davao Region, and Soccsksargen.
PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres noted, “Aside from the weather disturbance we are monitoring outside the Philippine area of responsibility, no other storms or low-pressure areas are being observed.”
