MANILA, Philippines — Overcast skies and rain showers are expected in parts of extreme Northern Luzon, while the rest of the country will experience fair weather on Sunday due to the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, according to the state weather bureau.

In its morning forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the habagat will affect Batanes, bringing scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the area.

“In the rest of the country, you’ll see that there is hardly any cloud cover over much of the archipelago. Because of this, generally fair and slightly hot weather is expected across most parts of the country today,” Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said.
