MANILA, Philippines — As President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. reaffirmed in his 2025 State of the Nation Address the urgency of protecting farmers and stabilizing food prices, Rep. Brian Poe, PhD, MNSA of the FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list, filed a landmark bill strengthening the country’s fight against agricultural economic sabotage.
The “Revised Anti-Agricultural Smuggling and Hoarding Act” seeks to expand and modernize the current law (Republic Act No. 10845) by treating both hoarding and large-scale smuggling of agricultural goods as heinous, non-bailable crimes, subject to life imprisonment, asset forfeiture, and steep penalties for both private offenders and complicit public officials.
