By LUCENA CITY — Local governments in Taytay, Rizal, and Atimonan, Quezon, have urged residents to take precautionary measures after both areas recorded dangerous heat index levels on Tuesday.
In an advisory posted on its Facebook page around 2:30 p.m., the Atimonan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said the coastal town along Lamon Bay registered a heat index of 43°C at about 1:57 p.m.
Authorities warned that prolonged exposure to extreme heat may cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke, prompting reminders for residents to take necessary precautions.
