MANILA, Philippines — There were no “untoward incidents or disruptions” reported during the three-day transport strike staged by the group Manibela, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Manibela launched its strike on Tuesday to protest the apprehension of jeepney drivers by the Department of Transportation’s Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation.
“We did not monitor any untoward incident amid the transport strike. It also did not cause major disruption among our commuters,” Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement on Tuesday, “In any case, we are always ready to assist our kababayans who could be affected by this transport strike,” he added.
