By MANILA, Philippines — Three suspected drug traffickers were killed in a shootout with the Philip
pine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) during a buy-bust operation at a gas station in Barangay Socorro, Quezon City, on Tuesday afternoon.
PDEG spokesperson Police Lt. Marlon Sy said one police officer and a confidential informant were wounded during the encounter, while one suspect remained at large.
“The suspects were on our target list and included in our intelligence packet. The operation stemmed from ongoing monitoring since August, as the transaction was progressing,” Sy said during a briefing at Camp Crame on Wednesday.
