By MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) on Monday commended actress Xyriel Manabat for her courage in speaking out and pursuing legal action against alleged online sexual harassment committed by a Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) driver.
“The PCW maintains that sexual harassment is never the fault of the victim nor the result of their choice of clothing or presence in places where they are not expected,” the PCW said.
“Her actions do more than punish one perpetrator; they serve as a catalyst for awareness, encouraging other survivors to reclaim their agency and challenging the ‘manyak’ culture that has persisted for too long,” it added.
