MANILA — Tropical depression “Romina” continued to move away from the Philippine Area of Responsibility as it heads northwestward.
According to PAGASA in its 11 p.m. bulletin, the weather disturbance was last seen 40 kilometers northwest of La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
Is it moving northwestward at 25 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h.
Tropical wind signal no. 1 remains up over Kalayaan Islands.
Tropical cyclone Romina is expected to move away from the islands while heading towards the eastern coast of Vietnam. Despite its movement, Romina, along with the shear line, is forecast to bring heavy to intense rainfall (100-200 mm) to Palawan and moderate to heavy rainfall (50-100 mm) to Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Northern Samar from Sunday night to Monday evening.
From Monday evening to Tuesday evening, heavy to intense rains are expected in Quezon, Camarines Norte, and Catanduanes, while moderate to heavy rains (50-100 mm) will affect Isabela, Aurora, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.
On Christmas Day, December 25, heavy to intense rains are predicted for Aurora and Quezon, while moderate to heavy rains will affect Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Northern Samar.
