By The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Regional Field Unit 9, in coordination with the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and Zamboanga City Police Station 11, intercepted at least P14 million worth of suspected smuggled cigarettes in Barangay Campo Islam before dawn on Sunday.
CIDG-9 said in a report that operatives recovered an abandoned delivery van loaded with assorted contraband after individuals transporting the cargo fled upon noticing the approaching law enforcers.
