MANILA, Philippines — Five alleged gunrunners were arrested by authorities in Bukidnon and Maguindanao del Sur provinces, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said.
Three of the suspects — identified by the police as “Jun,” 25; “Angel,” 26; and “Gerv,” 35 — were nabbed in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon last Tuesday afternoon, the CIDG detailed in a statement.
They “were caught while allegedly delivering and trading three unlicensed firearms: a caliber 30 rifle, caliber 45 pistol and a caliber 5.56 revolver,” the police explained.
The suspects “were caught while allegedly delivering and trading four units of light weapons, all caliber 5.56 rifles, without a permit and license. The duo is allegedly engaged in gunrunning activities, operating within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region,” the CIDG noted, All five suspects were charged before the National Prosecution Service for allegedly violating Republic Act No. 10591 or the Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
