CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan groups launch 3-day prayer rallies, marches vs corruption

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — Church groups, parishioners, students, civic organizations, and residents from the flood-stricken towns of Hagonoy and Calumpit kicked off a three-day series of prayer rallies, marches, and motorcades from Friday to Sunday (Sept. 19 to 21) to denounce alleged anomalies in multi-billion-peso flood control projects.

The Bulacan Ecumenical Forum (BEF) and Ecumenical Bishops Forum (EBF) — composed of Roman Catholic, Methodist, Aglipayan, and other Christian churches in Metro Manila and Central Luzon — are spearheading the activities under the banner “SIKLAB” (Simbahang Kaisa sa Laban ng Bayan para sa Katwiran at Katarungan).

Bulacan police director Col. Angel Garcillano assured that security measures are in place for the three-day mobilization. He said the Bulacan police will observe maximum tolerance and has placed units on heightened alert, with Civil Disturbance Management teams, traffic enforcers, and contingency measures ready. The police are also coordinating with local government units and agencies such as the Bureau of Fire Protection to ensure public safety.
