According to the QCPD, the body was discovered around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of Saint Beatriz Street and San Lorenzo Street. The dump truck, which was collecting garbage from various parts of Quezon City, had just arrived in Payatas when a worker reportedly noticed what appeared to be a human limb protruding from a trash pile.
Disturbed by the sight, the worker immediately alerted local authorities. Responding swiftly to the call, officers from the Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station 13 were deployed to the scene. The police quickly secured the area, cleared bystanders, and initiated crime scene protocols.
Crime Scene Secured, Identity Still Unknown
Police forensic investigators arrived shortly after and began examining the scene while the dump truck remained parked at the site. Early photos from the scene show yellow police tape cordoning off the area, with investigators in protective gear sifting through the trash to recover possible evidence.
As of this writing, the woman’s identity remains unknown. Authorities say she appeared to be between 25 to 35 years old, with medium build and long black hair. She was found wearing a white shirt and denim pants, both heavily soiled. No identification or personal belongings were recovered from the scene.
“Initial inspection of the body did not immediately reveal any obvious signs of external injuries, but we are waiting for the results of a full autopsy to determine the cause of death,” QCPD spokesperson Lt. Col. Alex De Guzman said in a media interview. “We are also working to identify her through fingerprint analysis and possible matching with missing persons reports.”
Ongoing Investigation and Public Appeal
Authorities have not ruled out foul play, although the exact circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain unclear. Investigators are looking into all possible scenarios, including whether the woman was already deceased before being placed in the dump truck or if she may have been killed and dumped along the truck’s collection route.
“We are coordinating with the waste management unit to trace the truck’s exact route and the areas where it collected trash this morning,” De Guzman added. “CCTV footage from nearby establishments will also be reviewed to aid in the investigation.”
Residents in the area expressed alarm over the discovery, with some stating that they initially thought the police activity was related to routine garbage operations.
“This is very disturbing,” said local resident Analyn Ramos, 42, who lives just a few meters from the scene. “We always see dump trucks here, but we never imagined something like this could happen.”
Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who may have knowledge about the identity of the woman to come forward. Anonymous tips are being accepted, and all information will be treated with confidentiality.
Ongoing Investigation and Public Appeal
The incident has also reignited concerns about violence against women in urban areas. Advocates are calling on local government units and law enforcement agencies to prioritize safety measures for women, particularly in vulnerable communities like Payatas.
“This tragic incident is a stark reminder that we still have much to do to ensure the safety of women,” said Leni Santos, a spokesperson from the women’s rights group Gabriela. “We urge authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and to treat this case with urgency and transparency.”
Awaiting Autopsy Results
As of press time, the woman’s body has been transferred to the Quezon City morgue, where it will undergo a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Results from the autopsy are expected to be released within the next 48 hours.
The QCPD assures the public that all investigative efforts are being exhausted to bring justice to the unidentified woman and her family. Updates on the case will be provided as more information becomes available.
For now, the community remains shaken, and questions remain unanswered as authorities work to uncover the truth behind this unsettling discovery.
