Alex Eala takes on Japanese Mei Yamaguchi in the 2025 Jingshan Tennis Open round of 16 on Thursday in China, Eala continues her quest for a second Women’s Tennis Association crown against the World No. 268 Yamaguchi, Seeded first in the tournament, Eala trounced Aliona Falei of Belarus, 6-3, 7-5, to kick off her WTA 125k campaign.
The 20-year-old Eala is gunning for her second WTA crown after winning the Guadalajara Open 125 against Panna Udvardy, 1-6, 7-5, 6-3, last September 7.
The Filipino tennis ace, who is currently World No. 58, also came from a quarterfinal exit in the Sao Paulo Open, where she lost to Indonesian Janice Tjen.
