By MANILA – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Thursday it has seized PHP180 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 109 individuals, including nine drug den owners, during a weeklong anti-drug campaign.
PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez said the items seized from Nov. 14 to 21 include suspected shabu with 5,787.50 grams of crystalline powder, alongside significant quantities in liquid form, and 24,270 grams of cocaine in Barangay Tagusao, Quezon, Palawan.
Meanwhile, 63,650 fully-grown marijuana plants and fruiting tops, seeds primarily from the mountainous regions of the Cordillera, Ilocos Sur and Sultan Kudarat, were destroyed. Also seized were vast quantities of precursor chemicals, including 63,205 ml of hydrochloric acid and 179,500 ml of acetone and toluene, effectively preventing the manufacture of millions of pesos worth of shabu.
