MANILA, Philippines — Super Typhoon Nando further intensified as it moved westward, threatening the Babuyan Islands, the state weather bureau said on Monday.
In its 8 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that as of 7 a.m., the eye of Nando was located 180 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan.
Nando packed maximum sustained winds of 215 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 265 kph. It was moving west at 20 kph, Pagasa added that the southwest monsoon and the trough of Nando will bring strong to gale-force gusts to Metro Manila, Central Luzon (areas not under wind signals), Calabarzon, and the Bicol Region.
