By PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur – A Sulu-based police officer and his driver yielded 282 master cases of smuggled cigarettes after they were intercepted at a checkpoint in Sitio Bactus, Barangay Talabaan, Zamboanga City.
Col. Fidel Fortaleza Jr. , Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) chief said the police officer is assigned in Jolo, Sulu, while his driver is a resident of Barangay Divisoria, Zamboanga City.
The arrested suspects were placed under the custody of Zamboanga City Police station 4, while the confiscated smuggled cigarettes, including the vehicle were turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition.
