MANILA, Philippines — Rain showers brought by the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, and shear line are forecast to persist over a large part of the Luzon region, while fair weather is expected over Visayas and Mindanao on Sunday due to the easterlies, the state weather bureau reported on Saturday.
Based on the 5 p.m. weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the shear line—which occurs when the amihan converges with easterlies, or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean—is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the following areas:
