*The* Philippine National Police (PNP) said a total of 753 personnel have been dismissed from service since April 2024 due to grave offenses.
In a statement on Wednesday, the PNP said 493 of these cops were dismissed due to absence without official leave (AWOL), 38 over illegal drug use, 18 over robbery/extortion, and 15 over carnapping.
Other serious violations of the dismissed cops were homicide, murder, rape, and graft/malversation.
“Our mission is to serve and protect the public, not to instill fear or abuse power. Any police officer found guilty of misconduct or illegal activities has no place in the PNP,” PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil said.
