By MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday may enter the country’s monitoring area within 24 to 48 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In its 5 a.m. forecast, Pagasa Weather Specialist Chenel Dominguez said the LPA was last seen 1,255 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao.
“Right now, the chances of it becoming a typhoon are still low. But if we can see it in our satellite image the trough, or its extension, would bring scattered rains, especially in the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao,” Dominguez said.
