The International Criminal Court (ICC) delivers its decision on the interim release appeal of former President Rodrigo Duterte who is currently detained in The Hague, Netherlands over alleged crimes against humanity committed during his administration’s war on drugs. Duterte, who waived his right to be personally present at the hearing, will be represented by his legal counsel, Nicholas Kaufman.
According to court documents, the decision addresses whether the former president’s detention should be maintained or if interim release can be granted under conditions.
The verdict comes after the pre-trial court’s earlier rejection of his request on September 26, when justices deemed him a flight risk and potential threat to witnesses.
