HEAT INDEX WATCH: Zambales’ Olongapo City hits ‘danger’ level – Pagasa

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Extreme summer heat persisted in Zambales and nearby areas on Monday, with some locations reaching hazardous heat index levels.

At 2 p.m., the Barangay Barretto Automatic Weather Station in Olongapo City recorded a heat index of 40.3°C, classified by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) under the “danger” level, according to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. The Barangay Old Cabalan station logged 37.4°C, under “extreme caution.”
