Habagat to bring rains over most of Luzon — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon (habagat) is expected to bring rains over most of Luzon on Saturday, May 31, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The national weather service declared the onset of the habagat season on Friday.

The weather system is projected to bring rain showers in the areas of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, La Union, Zambales, Bataan, Apayao and Abra on Saturday, according to Pagasa specialist Daniel James Villamil in the agency’s morning forecast.

“In these areas, let’s expect rains from the southwest monsoon. These will go on from late afternoon to evening, It will keep going until early morning,” Villamil said in a mix of Filipino and English.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, according to Pagasa.
