MANILA, Philippines — Four individuals were arrested in Makati City for allegedly selling counterfeit anti-cancer medicines worth about P102 million, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Saturday.
The CIDG Anti-Fraud and Commercial Crimes Unit, in coordination with the Southern Police District, seized 400 vials of suspected counterfeit anti-cancer drufs worth an estimated P102,577,500 during an operation inside a hotel in Makati City on Friday.
The operation stemmed from a complaint by a Singapore-based pharmaceutical company which reported to authorities that its canti- ancer drug was being counterfeited and illegally sold in the Philippines.
