By A Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel was killed, and three others survived an ambush by still unidentified gunmen in Barangay Bubongaranao, Calanogas in Lanao del Sur, on Wednesday night, a police official said.Col. Caesar Cabuhat, Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office director, identified the fatality as Fire Officer 1 Abdul Hamid Rangires Dimaren, 36, who was assigned to the fire station in Malabang, Lanao del Sur.
The survivors were identified as retired Fire Senior Inspector Maximino Ventura, 57, of Malabang town; Senior Fire Officer 2 Margie Ventura, 46; and Fire Officer 2 Hanin Balindong, 37. Both Ventura and Balindong are also assigned at the Malabang Fire Station.Initial police investigation said the victims were traveling aboard a black Toyota Hilux with license plate AEG 584 from Masiu to Malabang town when they were attacked by two gunmen riding a motorcycle at around 7:30 p.m.Police are still investigating to determine the motive and the suspects behind the ambush
