By MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa’s lawyer on Sunday denied claims that the lawmaker is “armed and dangerous,” contradicting the description given by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag.
Dela Rosa’s whereabouts remain unknown after he fled the Senate on May 14 to evade an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
“We respectfully but firmly take exception to the recent statement of NBI Director Matibag characterizing Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa as ‘armed and dangerous,’” lawyer Israelito Torreon said in a statement.
