By MANILA, Philippines — For Bryan Bagunas, Alas Pilipinas’ historic first win in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship is just the start of something big for Philippine men’s volleyball.
Bagunas continued to showcase his world-class talent with a 25-point explosion, conspiring with Marck Espejo and revelation Leo Ordiales to stun Egypt, 29-27, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21, on Tuesday in front of an emotional home crowd at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“It shows we’re not just limited to the SEA Games or Asian Games—we can also compete at the World Championship level. We really just enjoyed the game, and we were able to apply everything we learned from our coaching staff. That made a huge difference.”
