MANILA, Philippines — The third clarificatory hearing on the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte delves into her character, as the House of Representatives’ committee on justice will tackle the threats she made against ranking officials, Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro said on Wednesday.
In her opening speech, Luistro said that discussions regarding Duterte’s threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez will show whether the vice president is fit for office.
“This is no longer just about discrepancies. This is now about character. Who is the vice president? Is she really the second-highest official of the Republic of the Philippines, who clearly threatened the life of the president, who ordered to kill the president?” Luistro said in Filipino.
