By MANILA – Fugitive former lawmaker Zaldy Co will be detained at Camp Crame in Quezon City upon his return to the Philippines, Interior Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla said Friday.
In a radio interview, Remulla said the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will take custody of Co upon his arrival, and that he would be the one to bring Co before the Sandiganbayan for his arraignment.
“Pagdating dito, ako ang arresting officer at ako ang magdadala sa kanya sa custody ng Sandiganbayan kasi indicted na siya, charged na siya ng Ombudsman. Dadalhin muna siya sa Camp Crame, bibigyan siya ng thorough physical [examination] (When he get here, I will be the arresting officer and I will take him to the custody of the Sandiganbayan because he has already been indicted and charged by the Ombudsman. He will first be taken to Camp Crame, he will be given a thorough physical examination),” Remulla said.
