By MANILA – The confirmed detention of former Ako Bicol party-list representative Zaldy Co in the Czech Republic is a significant step toward accountability and justice for the Filipino people.
House of Representatives Speaker Faustino Dy III issued the reaction following the arrest announced by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. himself through social media before midnight Thursday.
“Malinaw na mula pa sa kanyang SONA, sinabi na ng Pangulo na walang puwang ang katiwalian sa kanyang pamumuno (In his State of the Nation Adress, the President clearly said that corruption has no place under his watch), that accountability must apply to everyone, especially those entrusted with public funds,” Dy said.
