By MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will send a letter, instead of a subpoena, to Nancy de la Rosa, wife of Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, amid its ongoing investigation into the senator’s “escape,” according to NBI Director Melvin Matibag on Thursday.
Matibag said this in an ambush interview when asked about the update of his recent statement that the bureau is consulting the Department of Justice and other agencies on whether they will issue a subpoena to dela Rosa’s wife.
“We are writing her a letter to explain, because what we also want to know is whether she really sent a message to Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano. And that is what Senator Alan Peter Cayetano himself read. It said the term ‘escape’ and then the shooting that happened,” he explained.
