MANILA, Philippines — Catarman, Northern Samar registered a peak heat index of 44ºC on Wednesday, the highest of three areas that logged “danger” level indices, the state weather bureau said.
Heat index refers to the “measure of the contribution that high humidity makes with abnormally high temperatures in reducing the body’s ability to cool itself,” according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
