By LUCENA CITY — Police arrested two alleged high-value drug suspects and seized suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) worth up to P2.1 million during a buy-bust operation in Tiaong, Quezon, on Thursday.
Colonel Romulo Albacea, director of the Quezon Police Provincial Office (QPPO), said anti-illegal drug operatives arrested the suspects, identified only by their aliases “Randy,” 49, and “Gary,” 53, in Barangay Lalig at around 6:25 a.m.
Based on the standard valuation of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the seized drugs were estimated to be worth P729,300 at P6,800 per gram, However, police said the same quantity could fetch up to P2,187,900 in the illegal street market, based on a prevailing price of P20,400 per gram.
