By Alexandra “Alex” Eala will begin her Japan Women’s Open campaign on Tuesday afternoon against Tereza Valentova of Czechia.
Valentova earned her spot in the tournament’s main draw through the qualifiers, defeating Alina Charaeva and Eala’s former opponent Greet Minnen.
The 18-year-old Czech currently holds a WTA ranking of No. 78, just slightly below her career-high of No. 75, which she reached three weeks ago.
