MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Emong (international name: Co-May) has weakened into a severe tropical storm after making landfall in Candon City, Ilocos Sur on Friday, said the state weather bureau.
Meanwhile, nine Luzon areas are still under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3, 11 areas under Signal No. 2, and eight areas are under Signal No. 1.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) in its 8 a.m. typhoon bulletin, Emong made landfall in the vicinity of Candon City, Ilocos Sur at 5:10 a.m. on Friday morning.
