By A bill seeking to exempt system loss charges from value-added tax (VAT) and another bill to repeal the collection of energy taxes were filed in the Senate on Tuesday by Senate energy committee Chairperson Erwin Tulfo.
This comes a day after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced in his State of the Nation Address to remove system loss charges and the VAT for the same charge.
Meanwhile, Senate Bill No. 2339, or the “Energy Tax Repeal Act” aims to cease the collection of energy tax imposed under Batas Pambansa Blg. 36, otherwise known as “An Act Imposing an Energy Tax on Electric Power Consumption.”
