LUCENA CITY — Authorities in Talisay, Batangas on Sunday advised residents to take extra precautions after the town’s heat index reached the extreme caution level at 41°C.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) said that the advisory is based on the monitoring of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Prolonged exposure to heat can lead to muscle cramps and heat exhaustion, and may increase the risk of heat stroke, especially during sustained physical activity.
