MANILA, Philippines—In his first public remarks since the deaths of Ateneo players Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili, coach Tab Baldwin apologized and said he had failed as a coach and leader.
In a pre-recorded video posted by Ateneo de Manila University, Baldwin broke his silence and recounted the events of the team-building activity in Aurora that claimed the lives of the two players.
“As a coach, I’m entrusted by you, the parents and the families, with first and foremost, their well-being. In this, I feel I’ve failed. I’m sorry, to the depth of my being, I’m sorry,” Baldwin said.
