MANILA, Philippines – Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III attended the meeting of the Independent Commission on Infrastructure(ICI) on Monday to testify under oath and shed light on the Senate’s procedure regarding the national budget and the process by which insertions are made.
Sotto emphasized the importance of transparency in government spending and reiterated the Senate’s responsibility to ensure accountability in the allocation of funds.
Earlier, Sotto, together with Blue Ribbon Committee Chairperson Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, stood firm on the need to investigate alleged anomalies in the budget, particularly on allocations for flood-control projects, Sotto assured that the Senate remains committed to upholding integrity in the budget process and will continue to work closely with oversight bodies to uncover and prevent irregularities.
