MANILA, Philippines — Former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.’s counsel on Friday said he was implicated in a flood control anomaly because he is a low-hanging fruit, adding that they remain confident in their position on the case.
Lawyer Reody Anthony Balisi made the remark following the Sandiganbayan Third Division bail hearing of Revilla and his co-accused in the malversation case involving an allegedly anomalous P92.8 million flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
“Why do you think he was implicated? He is a low-hanging fruit, an easy target, so to speak, an easy person to point to. When the investigation is nearing you, you would just point at someone else,” Balisi said in an ambush interview.
