MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) being monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) has a “high chance” of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 to 48 hours, the state weather bureau said on Tuesday.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the LPA was last seen 1,570 km east of northeastern Mindanao.
“Its trough or extension is affecting the eastern part of Mindanao and causing rains over some areas east of Mindanao,” Torres, speaking Filipino, said in Pagasa’s latest weather update.
