By Former featherweight world champion Mark Magsayo and Eumir Marcial opened the night with wins for Team Philippines on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao vs Mario Barrios match on Sunday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Magsayo, 30, went to work for ten rounds against Jorge Mata in a bout that showcased his hand speed and flashy combinations. Mata fought fire with fire all night, but was outgunned by the Filipino en route to a unanimous decision in favor of Magsayo.
The victory improved Magsayo’s professional boxing record to 28-2 with 18 knockouts.
