MANILA — Bicol Saro Rep. Terry Ridon on Saturday urged the House of Representatives to stand firm and pursue its constitutional duty to try Vice President Sara Duterte, despite a recent Supreme Court decision declaring her impeachment unconstitutional.
“Very important po yung paninindigan ng Kongreso na magakakaroon po ng motion for reconsideration, at hopefully magkakaroon pa po ng pagkakataon ang Korte Suprema na pag-isipan mong muli ito pong real and grave implications nito pong kanilang bagong doktrina sa pagi-impeach po,” Ridon said.
The Supreme Court had unanimously voided the impeachment complaint, citing violations of the Constitution’s one-year bar rule and the Vice President’s right to due process.
