LUCENA CITY — The local government of Taytay in Rizal province on Friday, May 22, urged residents to continue observing safety precautions against rising temperature after the town recorded a heat index of 49.15 degrees Celsius.
“The heat index (real feel) in the municipality of Taytay reached 49.15°C as of 12:50 p.m. on May 22, 2026 (Friday),” the municipal public information office (PIO) said in a Facebook post Friday night.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) classifies heat index levels ranging from 42°C to 51°C under the “danger” category, warning that prolonged exposure to extreme heat may lead to heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
