By MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or “habagat” has slightly weakened, but thunderstorms are still expected nationwide on Wednesday, according to the state weather bureau.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the habagat is now only affecting the western section of Northern Luzon.
“We do not expect widespread rainfall over most parts of the country. Instead, localized thunderstorms will be the primary cause of rain in many areas,” Pagasa weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said in Filipino in Pagasa’s latest weather briefing.
