By Barangay Ginebra overcame Converge, 88-80, on Friday in the PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals.
Early in the fourth period, Ginebra led by as much as 16, 75-59, before the FiberXers trimmed their deficit to within seven, 83-76, with 1:29 left in regulation. Converge had several chances late in the game but Alec Stockton was called for a personal foul and a technical foul to put Abarrientos on the line. Eventually, he made another jumper to give Barangay Ginebra a 10-point lead before Stockton buried a four-pointer to put a glimmer of hope for the FiberXers’ chances.
