By MANILA, Philippines–Alex Eala took down higher-ranked Sorana Cirstea of Romania, 7-5, 6-4, early Thursday (Manila time) to book her spot in the quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Eala put on another impressive showing in the nightcap at Center Court, racing to a 5-1 lead in the second set before sealing her second quarterfinal appearance of the Middle East swing in front of another big Filipino crowd.
