LUCENA CITY, Quezon— Despite the onset of the rainy season, three localities in Quezon and Cavite provinces recorded heat index levels under the “extreme caution” category on Wednesday.
In a public advisory posted on Facebook at around 2:20 p.m., the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) of Atimonan, Quezon, reported a heat index of 41 degrees Celsius at 2 p.m., based on data from the local government’s Automated Weather Station (AWS).
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the heat index refers to the temperature perceived by the human body when air temperature is combined with humidity.
