PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — Authorities seized an estimated P3.2 million worth of alleged smuggled cigarettes and arrested a 23-year-old man during an intelligence-driven anti-smuggling operation in Barangay Dumagoc here early Sunday morning.
The operation was conducted at 1:15 a.m. in Purok Sweet Love, where law enforcers apprehended the suspect, a resident of Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.
Pagadian City police chief Lt. Col. Jerwin Cagurin said the operation resulted in the confiscation of 57 master cases of cigarettes allegedly lacking the required Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) tax stamps and graphic health warning labels.
