By MANILA, Philippines – The ongoing impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte only seeks to ensure that the country’s highest officials remain accountable to the public, a church leader said on Friday.
“Impeachment is not persecution,” Kidapawan Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo said in a statement, noting that the proceedings are a “constitutional and democratic process” meant to ensure accountability.
