Rain persists in Metro Manila, other areas due to LPA, habagat

MANILA, Philippines — Rain persisted in Metro Manila and other parts of the country on Thursday due to a low-pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon, locally known as the habagat, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In a 5 a.m. forecast, Pagasa weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said the habagat is expected to bring scattered rain over Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.
